This Just In! Island Park Drive 1927

Just had to share this photo this morning! While diving through the depths of the National Aerial Photo Library on Booth Street last week (a favorite way to spend an afternoon every couple of months), I uncovered this gem of a photograph from June of 1927 (click on it to expand it in a pop-up window):

The photo is a view of Island Park Drive when it was new, looking south towards Scott Street from above the River. St. George's Church is visible towards the top in the centre, just below the belly of the airplane. The dusty lane that is barely there near the bottom of the photo crossing Island Park is a very early version of Clearview Avenue.

Here is a bit of an aerial shot of present-day, showing the same curve in Island Park, and the area now built up all around it.
