Good evening!
Just a final reminder that the Kitchissippi History & Heritage Group meeting is still on for this Sunday (June 5th) from 2-4 p.m. at Kitchissippi United Church, at 630 Island Park Drive (just south of the Queensway underpass).
Heritage staff from the City Planning Department will be presenting on their work this summer on the revamp of the Heritage Reference List, and heritage designation in general. Bring any questions you have, this is a fantastic opportunity.
I'm also happy to announce that well-known artist/writer/historian/personality Andrew King will be giving a 10-15 minute presentation on a really cool topic about a piece of Kitchissippi history that likely few would know about.
We will conclude the meeting with approx. 30-45 minutes of short presentations from attendees, who will be sharing information on ongoing projects, upcoming events of a local history nature, research topics they'd like help or input on, or to promote (and sell!) a recent publication they've put out. This invitation goes out to anyone attending the meeting - Those of you who are doing work in history research and heritage in our area, please use this chance to promote the great work you're doing!
We'll also discuss briefly the way forward for the group, and perhaps try to figure out a good way to communicate in between meetings going forward. Feel free to think about these topics, and bring any and all ideas on Sunday!
Everyone is welcome at the meeting, please feel free to pass along the invitation to any friends/neighbours/family who may wish to attend. We have unlimited space in the large hall at the Church! I look forward to seeing you there! Cheers!
