The history of the Carleton Tavern (and a little of the Parkdale Market too)
Hello! My article on the history of the Carleton Tavern appears in this week's new edition of the Kitchissippi Times. Part of the building dates back to 1896, and you'll also learn a bit of the history of the early days of the Parkdale Market property too. Check it out at: http://kitchissippi.com/80-years-of-history-of-the-carleton-tavern-ottawa/

How the Queensway arrived in Kitchissippi!
This week's issue of the Kitchissippi Times features an article I wrote on the arrival of the Queensway in Ottawa, and specifically in Kitchissippi. It tells of the good and the bad effect it had on our community. There are some really great photos included with the article as well that you must see. Bid on the history of your house! All proceeds to Elmdale School
I am happy to be participating in the Elmdale School annual silent auction to raise funds for school programming! I'm especially happy to contribute as Elmdale is the school I attended for kindergarten up to grade four way back in the 80s, and now my son Xavier is in JK there this year.
Check out http://www.bidelmdale.com for the list of various silent auctions, mine is listed under "House Story" (and "Dave Allston") about halfway down the list. Starting bid is only $100, and bidding ends this Sunday June 7th, at 8 p.m.
Since I've for the most part taken a reprieve from doing house histories for the short term, this is a good chance to have the history of your house completed, while also helping out Elmdale School.
Winning bidder will receive a large custom made binder report, with the complete history of your house, property, street and neighbourhood.
Cheers and thanks!
